In only his first year in the Kenyan Entertainment industry Pewa Aka Abagenge is doing it big and is becoming a fast rising star. Having invented his own style of music dubbed Newskool Genge, Pewa has already attracted love from many fans countrywide; he has also gained respect from both upcoming and mainstream artist in the Kenyan Entertainment industry. Some have even gone ahead to say that he sounds Like Nonini and Jua Kali combined, Many of the upcoming artist have embraced his new style and are now slowly by slowly trying to associate with it. He say his style is different from the original in that he mainly talks of issues and ills in the society unlike the latter which many didn’t like to associate with. He says that in his songs he tries to educate the society about what is good and bad and the way to tackle the ills amongst the society. In his first single titled Kijiji na jiji which hit the fm airwaves late 2011, he tried to compare between the city life and the village life in which the story line was that no matter where you live,be it in the village or the city, your life depends on yourself, you don’t have to live in the city to have a better life and vice versa. The chorus is a catchy one with vocals wonderfully done by Blaqchild and anyone can easily sing along .it goes “Kijiji na jijiiiiiiii ….. Gani fitii, Kijiji Na jiji …… Zote fiti”.His newest single NIPENI KURA ZENU is currently topping the Zuqka top 5 charts, is among the top 20 hits on Ghetto Radio 89.5 which airs every Saturday from 1pm,it’s also on the top 8 charts that airs everyday from 7pm.The song is getting good airplay in different fm stations in Kenya and although the video is not yet out, this might definitely turn out to be the 2012 anthem. The self proclaimed Pioneer of Newskool Genge says he is coming to change the entertainment industry. Let’s sit back and watch.
